I’ve given up reading articles on health as a dead loss and I know because I read everything I could find. To be honest it was driving me absolutely crazy, you see, I am a health fanatic. I used to be fat, lazy, and out of shape, and it made me absolutely miserable, but since I finally got my body back into shape, I have been doing everything that I can to keep myself as healthy as possible.
I felt I had to read every article on health I could find so I wouldn’t miss out on any new diet or exercise regime or healthy supplement I should have. You see, I read so many articles on health I started to see the contradictions about what as good for you and what was bad, and they kept changing the rules. You never know what to believe a prime example was that about the benefits of soy which was heavily promoted one day then ridiculed the next for being responsible for food allergies, amongst others. They just don’t realise that most of us just want to stay fit, healthy and live as long as possible and to do this we need their help, not hindrance.
It just got to that stage where everything I read contradicted the other about the best way to live your life. Now take coffee, alcohol and chocolate, three great American favorites, which were considered detrimental to your health, until recently, that is. So we have scientists now telling us that provided we use them in moderation, dark chocolate, dark beer or Guinness and coffee have positive health benefits. Well, you know that next they will be saying that if you want a low cholesterol diet you had better consume quantities of your favorite ice cream and cheesecake.
Well it took some time but all these so called experts have managed to do is make people wary about what they are told and to be responsible for themselves. So in future reading articles on health can stay but it is my life and they won’t affect how I choose to live it. Still, I don’t doubt that reading the odd article on health will be worthwhile because I can pick up some good exercise tips and how to eat a balanced diet, the rest will be up to me. In some ways this new knowledge is a good thing because it hasn’t changed what I want from life, just made me reassess who I listen to if I want to achieve it.
