The Remastered Beatles in Stereo Box Set was released in September of ‘09 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles legendary albums. These remastered stereo versions sound far superior to the old CDs from the late 1980s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the old CDs it’s like the older discs are under a pile of old blankets while the new discs sound very clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals push through the mixes like never before.

The Beatles Stereo Box Set isn’t the only Beatles box set that came out in ‘09 but it has been the biggest seller because it can be appreciated by the biggest set of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles in Mono Box Set is excellent too but it appeals mostly to purists who need to listen to the original mono mixes (because that’s how most fans in the 1960s heard this music) than to the average classic rock fan. Although there are definitely songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially many of the pre Sgt Pepper recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo box set does sound best.

The fantastic thing about The Beatles Stereo CD Box Set is that it allows you to get The Beatles entire 1960s catalog with just one purchase and considering the extremely high quality of all of their LPs, it makes sense to order al of the albums at one time instead of purchasing some and then getting more later.

Beyond the awesome ground breaking music included in this box set there are some cool visual parts, the 13 mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with the documentary DVD there are extensive liner notes for every CD (there’s some good info in these notes, especially for fans who are new to the group) and some great unpublished pictures.

I’m such a huge Beatles fanatic that I’ve purchased (or I plan on ordering) The Beatles Stereo Box, The Beatles in Mono Box Set, The Beatles Apple USB Flash Drive, and The Beatles Rock Band Game. But if I had to choose just one of these items, it would be the complete stereo box because it is the best hear their legendary music and after all, it’s their influential albums that matters most.
